Parker High football player Eman Alaniz has had quite a year. The Broncs won the regional title in the 2A Agua Fria. He was named the Region Player of the Year, and was named to the all-region first team. He was also named to the 2A all-state first and second teams. He was named to play in the Blue-Gray All-American Bowl in December in Dallas, Texas.

Now, he has decided where he will be attending college. After receiving many offers and considering his options, on April 16 Alaniz signed on to attend and play football at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.

In a statement on Facebook, Alaniz thanked his teachers, coaches, mother and teammates for their support.

“Above all, God has guided me to reach this point in my life,” Alaniz said. “It’s a blessing to be in this position. Thank you to my family for supporting me through it all.”

In thanking his coaches, Alaniz said he had taken in more core values through them than he could have taken in any other way. He thanked his teammates for their support and motivation.

“I wouldn’t be in this position without you guys,” he said.

Buena Vista University had a student body of 1,863 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA. They are an NCAA Division III school, and are part of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Their mascot is the Beavers. It’s said that began during the early 20th Century, when the school’s teams were known as the “BVers.”
