Parker racing teams produced two class winners on the first day of the 2020 BlueWater Resort & Casino/ Best in the Desert Parker 425 presented by Jimco. In the first race held Friday, Jan. 24, a Parker team led by Alfredo Garcia placed first in the Sportsman/8100 class.
Garcia and his team joined Randy Merritt in the 7200 class as Parker-based winners in their classes.
Garcia was joined by Jesus Magallon, Magdiel Garcia, Lazaro Cardenas and Jorge Trevino. They drove No. 8174, a Ford. They completed their two laps in 7:35:41.382. They also placed 10th overall in the two-lap classes.
The Parker team would’ve placed second in the Sportsman/8100 class, but No. 8190, which was driven by James Scully of Yackers, N.Y. and Chris Pearson of Costa Mesa, Calif., was disqualified.
At the awards ceremony Jan. 26, Garcia accepted the plaque on behalf of the team. He said this was their first time racing, and he hoped there would be many more races to come.
The sponsors for 8174 included J&M Tire Shop and Car Wash.
