The Parker Broncs softball team closed out their 2022 season on April 21 on an all-too-familiar note for this season: a 21-0 loss to the Kingman Academy Tigers at home.
This game marked Coach Lee Hibl’s last game, as he has announced his resignation from the school district.
The loss put the Broncs at 5-11 overall for season. They were 4-4 against their 3A West rivals, and 4-6 against other 3A teams.
They are in third place in the region and are ranked No. 32 statewide in 3A.
The 3A West appears to have been a weak region this year. Three teams in the region, including the Broncs, lost 10 or more games overall. Even perennial powerhouse Yuma Catholic barely broke even, finishing with an overall record of 9-8.
The only 3A teams the Broncs defeated this season were Tonopah Valley and Odyssey Institute, both of whom are 3A West rivals and had worse records than the Broncs.
Their only other win of the season came against Antelope in their season opener.
Here are the standings in the 3A West as of April 24. Teams are listed by their records in the region, their records against 3A teams, and their overall records.
Kingman: 8-0, 9-1, 10-4
Yuma Catholic: 6-2, 7-6, 9-8
Parker: 4-4, 4-6, 5-11
Tonopah Valley: 1-6, 1-10, 2-13
Odyssey Institute: 0-7, 0-15, 1-17.
