On Saturday, Nov. 20, there are two 2A high school football games taking place to determine who will play in the Arizona Interscholastic Association state 2A finals. Both are taking place at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix. The Parker Broncs, who are ranked No. 1, will be going up against the No. 3 Morenci Wildcats to determine one of those two spots in the state championship game.

As of early Saturday evening, one of those positions had already been filled, and it’s a team the Broncs have seen once before this season:  the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes. The Coyotes, who are ranked No. 2, defeated the No. 3 Benson Wildcats, 20-7, to qualify for the state championship game.

The Coyotes placed first in the 2A Gila Region this season. They were 4-0 in their region, 8-1 against 2A teams, and 9-1 overall. Their only loss was on Oct. 1 to Parker, with the final score in that game being 40-18. This win put the Broncs in the No. 1 position in the state.

The 2A State Championship game will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27 at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert.
