The Parker Broncs football team is now 3-0 on their 2019 season. On Sept. 6, they defeated the Kingman Academy Tigers, 32-8, in Kingman.
“We played our game,” Coach Jeston Lotts said. “We had a lull in the third quarter and they were able to score.”
Lotts praised Uriah Martinez, who he said had 150 yards on rushing and a pair of tackles on defense. He said Matthew Baumann, Kyle Dyer and Christian Lopez also had great games.
The Broncs are now 3-0 overall. They’re in last place in the 2A Verde, but that’s only because they have yet to face any of their region opponents. They haven’t faced any other 2A teams, either. By contrast, the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights are in first place in the 2A Verde with a 3-0 record because the only teams they’ve played this season have been in the section.
This week, on Friday, Sept. 13, the Broncs will travel to Needles for a non-conference game against the Needles Mustangs. Lotts said they are physical and well-coached, even though they’ve started the season at 0-2.
“Their quarterback is a good athlete,” he said. “We’re going to have a handful stopping their running game.”
The Broncs next home game won’t be until Sept. 27, when they take on the Veritas Prep Falcons. Game time at Joe Bush Stadium is 7 p.m.
