It’s becoming a banner year for Parker-based Mongo Racing. With a class win March 7 at the B.F. Goodrich Mint 400 in Las Vegas, they now have three class wins in the 2020 off-road racing season.

At the Mint 400, lead driver Randy Merritt and co-drivers R.J. Merritt, Jake Larson and Chris Golding brought in their truck, No. 721, with a time of 9:17:17.122 for four laps. The truck, a Ford, was renumbered for Class 7 at the Mint 400.

Merritt and Mongo Racing began the season with a class win at the BlueWater Resort & Casino/Best in the Desert Parker 425 presented by Jimco Jan. 24. This was a two-day affair, with the slower and two-lap classes going out on Friday and the faster classes going out on Saturday. With the truck numbered its more familiar 7281, Merritt placed first in the 7200 class on Friday, coming in with a time of 7:51:38.327.

On Feb. 23, Merritt placed first in another event from Best in the Desert Racing Association, the 2020 King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic in Laughlin, Nev. They completed eight laps in 2:43:49.203.

The Mint 400 is one of the oldest events in off-road racing. This year, it included a week of activities that ran from March 3 to March 8. The races themselves were held March 6 and 7.

Mongo Racing’ sponsors include Ford Performance, Ultra Wheels, ADS Shocks, Jamar Brakes, Hawk Performance, Running Man Fuel, SPD Performance, FK Rod Ends and Canton Coolers.
