All good things must come to an end, and the season-starting winning streak for the Parker Broncs softball ended with a 9-3 loss to the Bagdad Sultans March 3 in Bagdad. The loss left the Broncs 2-1 on the regular season.
The Broncs played in their first tournament of the year when they competed in the Desert Classic March 6 and 7 at Bourgade Catholic High School in Phoenix. The event was sponsored by Phoenix Country Day School.
The Broncs went 1-3 on the tournament, but none of the games were close. The Broncs mostly found themselves on the short end of blow-out scores, but their one win was also a blow-out. They lost to the host team, the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles, 13-3. They then lost to the Northland Prep Spartans, 17-2. Their final game was the biggest blow-out of them all: a 26-9 loss to the Fountain Hills Falcons.
The Broncs’ only win came in their third game, when they defeated the Valley Christian Trojans, 12-0.
The Broncs have just one game this week. They’ll travel Tuesday, March 10 to Wickenburg to play the Wranglers. On Monday, March 16, they’ll travel to Eloy to play the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils.
Their next home game won’t be until March 18, when they play the Kingman Academy Tigers. Game time is 3:45 p.m.
