It’s hoped that Arizona schools will be reopening in the fall, and that will bring high school sports back to the state. With that in mind, the Parker School Board approved the coaches for Parker High School’s fall 2020 sports season at their May 13 meeting. They include many former student-athletes who attended Parker High.
For varsity football, Jeston Lotts will be returning as head coach. Lotts was selected as the 2A Verde Region Coach of the Year in 2019. His assistants include Sean Golding, Kyle Carlson and Jeff Wheatley. All are graduates of Parker High. Joe Golding has been approved as a volunteer assistant coach.
Marie Maya will be returning as head girls’ volleyball coach. She has served in that post for many years, and she won a state title in 2007. Dan Maya was named an assistant varsity coach. Tahnee Sharpe was named freshmen volleyball coach. Volunteer assistant coaches include Jose Lizarraga and Nicole Chavez.
All the volleyball coaches are graduates of Parker High School.
Paul Steinmiller was named varsity cross-country head coach. He was also named e-sports coach.
Aryn Romo was named head varsity Spiritline coach. This is the cheerleading squad.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, all school sports in Arizona have been cancelled for the remainder of the school year. The website of the Arizona Interscholastic Association and their azpreps365 website have yet to announce fall sports schedules for high schools in the state. The Pioneer will announce those schedules when they are announced.
