Individual members of the Parker Broncs’ small cross country team are making their presence known. It was no surprise that Lake Havasu and Lee Williams of Kingman dominated the top spots at the Running the River Meet, which was held Oct. 16 at River Valley High School in Mohave Valley. However, the list of Havasu and Lee Williams runners in the top 10 was broken up by a Parker runner who came in eighth.

The Broncs’ Curtis Felknor placed eighth of 73 runners as he came in at 19:35. He again cracked 20 minutes and this was one of his best times for the season. He was just one second behind Lake Havasu’s Nikolus Burgos, who placed seventh.

Coming in 15th was one of Felknor’s teammates, Tyrell Manuel. His time was 20:31. Stephan Mike came in 21st at 21:33.

Lake Havasu took all three of the top places, as well as six of the top 10. The winner was Havasu’s Joshua Hansen at 17:41. Joshua Lumpkin as second at 19:03, and Brody Port was third at 19:16.

In team points, Lake Havasu led with 19. Lee Williams was second with 51, and Mohave of Bullhead City was third at 89. Parker came in fourth at 104, Kingman followed at 112, and Laughlin, Nev. had 158.

There were 44 runners on the girls’ side, and the two Parker runners finished in the top half and close to each other. Aleesha Begaye placed 14th at 25:44. Alicea Moreno placed 17th at 26:17.

Two familiar faces were in the lead on the girls’ side. Lake Havasu’s Isabel Sloma was first at 22:52. Her teammate, Alyssa Musselman, was second at 23:30. Rounding up the top three was Leslie Qintero of Laughlin. Her time was 23:54.

Lake Havasu dominated the team points on the girls’ side just as the boys dominated their competition. They led with 34 points. Lee Williams had 47, Laughlin had 56, Palo Verde of Blythe, Calif. had 98, and Needles, Calif, had 124.

The Broncs’ next meet will be Saturday, Oct. 26, when they’ll run in the Ray Gomez Invitational Meet at Rotary Park in Bullhead City. This will be their final regular season meet. The Colorado River Regional Meet will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Lake Havasu High School. The Arizona Interscholastic Association Sectional Meet will be held Nov. 6 at Rose Mofford Park in Phoenix.
