The coronavirus pandemic has hit Parker High sports. The basketball programs for boys and girls have been shut down for eight days due to what Athletic Director Dan Maya called a “significant outbreak” on both teams.

Maya said he hopes the teams will be ready to play again Jan. 17.

The Broncs’ boys had two road games scheduled for this week, one at Scottsdale Christian Jan. 11 and one at Veritas Prep Jan. 14, but they were both cancelled. They’ll play the Odyssey Institute Minotaurs on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Odyssey.

The girls had a home game scheduled against Scottsdale Christian Jan. 10, and they were to hit the road for Veritas Prep, Jan. 14, but, as with the boys, both games have been cancelled. Their next scheduled game is Jan. 18 at Odyssey Insititute.

The next home games for both teams will be Thursday, Jan. 20, when they play the Tonopah Valley Phoenix. The girls are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the boys for 7 p.m.
