The Parker Broncs soccer team got their first win of the season Nov. 28 when they defeated the Antelope Rams, 7-2, in Wellton. They got a second win Nov. 29 when the San Pasqual Warriors of Winterhaven, Calif. canceled their soccer program for the season.
Parker Coach Hector Duran said this translated into a forfeit for Parker.
The Broncs got a real test over the weekend, when they played in a tournament in Cave Creek. Duran said they faced some high-caliber teams. He said this was a good learning experience for the Broncs, and he was impressed with the effort they made.
“Our kids have a lot of heart,” he said. “We played some really fast teams.”
Duran said two players who really stood out at the tournament were Jose Ortiz and James Parks.
“They went above and beyond,” Duran said. “They saved a lot of balls that should’ve scored.”
The Broncs won their season home opener Dec. 5 against the Kingman Bulldogs, 10-0. The next game will be Dec. 13, when they face Kingman again, this time in Kingman.
