The Parker Broncs golf team had two matches last week. In one, they had their best team score so far this season. In the other, they saw a vast improvement over their performance on that same course a week earlier.
At a match Monday, April 12 at the Emerald Canyon Golf Course, the Broncs came out ahead of their two opponents, the River Valley Dust Devils and the Kingman Academy Tigers. Parker shot a 203 over nine holes and edged out the Tigers, who shot a 208. River Valley shot a 234.
“Our score of 203 was the best we have done this year by seven strokes,” Broncs’ Coach Chad McKenzie said. He has stated it is a realistic goal for the team to get their scores below 200 before the end of the season.
Parker was led by Jacob Bennett and Ethan Sale, who both shot under 50 and came in each shooting a 48. Tallia Robledo had the best score of her high school career as she shot a 53. Brayden Page shot a 54 and Adryanna Robledo had a solid 58.
On Thursday, April 15, the Broncs paid a second visit to the Sundance Golf Course to play Trivium Prep and Odyssey Prep. Parker’s team score of 215 was a 13 stroke improvement over their team score from a week earlier.
Trivium won the match with a team score of 204. Their coach is Parker High Alumnus David Goldsberry. Odyssey came in third with a 220.
Ethan Sale led the Broncs with a 51, despite having a 10 on one hole. Brayden Page shot a 52 despite a hole where he hit consecutive shots into the water. Bennett had a 54, and Tallia Robledo shot a 58.
The Broncs have one match this week. Kingman Academy and River Valley return to the Emerald Canyon Golf Course Monday, April 19. Tee time is 2 p.m.
