The Parker Broncs volleyball swept another one of the 3A West rivals Tuesday, Oct. 13 as they defeated the Wickenburg Wranglers, 25-7, 25-12, and 25-15, in Parker. They remain in second place in the 3A West behind the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks.

“We did well,” Parker Assistant Coach Dan Maya said. “We didn’t play down to their level.”

Demi Durham as again Parker’s top offensive player, scoring several kills. Tallia Robledo also made major contributions to the Broncs’ offense. Maya praised Tyra Robledo for her serves, some of which he described as “awesome.”

“They’re doing the right things,” Maya said of the Broncs.

Maya said Wickenburg is struggling this year, and they have only one on the season. He said they have a young team that consists mostly of freshmen and sophomores. He added they have a new coach, Bradi Nelson, and the players appear to like playing for her.

“If they want to play, they’ll work harder,” he said.

The Broncs are now 4-1 against 3A West teams, 4-1 against 3A teams, and 6-1 overall. They’re in second place in the 3A West, and are ranked 13th in the state.

The Broncs have two more home matches this week. They’ll play another 3A West rival, the Kingman Bulldogs, Oct. 15. In their last outing, the Bulldogs were swept by the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks. The scores were 25-5, 25-20, and 25-11. The Bulldogs are 1-4 against 3A West teams and 1-6 overall. The only team they’ve defeated was Wickenburg.
