Mixed Martial Arts action returns to the BlueWater Resort & Casino May 18 with “King of the Cage River Wars.” Parker’s own Mixxed Bloodz MMA will be represented with several fighters on the card.
Mixxed Bloodz’s Ryan Shatto will be in one of the co-main events. He’ll be taking on Bryce Callaghan of Blythe, Calif. in a 150-pound match-up. Shatto is a former Parker High School wrestler.
Other Mixxed Bloodz fighters include Chris Tahbo going up against Mashonte Mailboy in a Heavyweight match. John Russell will take on Matt Gutierrez on a 170-pound match, Justin Musgrove of Lake Havasu City will face Joseph Gabaldon in a 170-pound match, Chris Meyers of Lake Havasu City will face Tray Black of Blythe, Calif. in a 140-pound match, Tommy Ochoa will face Luigi Bisconti in a 155-pound match, and another former Parker High wrestler, Pacen Scogin, will take on Brandon Rivera in a 125-pound match.
Mixxed Bloodz Coach Danny Crayton said the fighters have put in a lot of work since January.
“It was a whole team effort,” he said. “Through hard work, we’ve become a cohesive unit.”
Crayton noted the team started right years ago with virtually nothing. They didn’t even have their own training facility. He said they’ve come a long way since then. He said the Mixxed Bloodz MMA fighting system has evolved, and will continue to evolve as the move into the future of MMA.
“We started from the bottom, and now we’re here,” Coach Huluna Reyes said. “I want to give a big shout out to Danny on his hard work at putting this camp together.”
Crayton and Reyes invited the community to come out and watch Mixxed Bloodz MMA at the May 18 event.
“P-Town gets down!” they said.
Crayton wanted to thank Mixxed Bloodz’s sponsors, including Roadrunner Resort, River Dave’s Place, the Miles Family, Riverskin, Robert Gory Realty, Steve Stanton Construction, Denny’s of Blythe and Lake Havasu City, Halby’s, Comfort Suites of Blythe, Amapola Café, Willy’s Tree Service and Chub’s Barbecue Sauce.
