It was an incredible season for the Parker Broncs’ football team, and one of the major reasons for that was Emanuel “Eman” Alaniz. He was outstanding on both offense and defense. The coaches and athletic directors of the 2A Agua Fria region recognized this as they named Alaniz the 2A Agua Fria Player of the Year for 2020.
In addition to being named Player of the Year, Alaniz was named to two positions on the all-region first team, offensive utility player and punt returner. He was also named to the all-region second team as a defensive back.
One of Alaniz’s teammates, Uriah Martinez, was named the Region Offensive Player of the Year.
Glendale Prep’ Robert Addicott was named Coach of the Year. A Glendale Prep player, Malachi Mizysak, was named Defensive Player of the Year.
It was a season where the Broncs went 4-0 against their region opponents and 4-1 overall. They took home a region championship for the first time in 19 years. They won their game against Glendale Prep in the first round of the state tournament, but then lost to Arizona Lutheran Academy in the quarter-final round.
Alaniz and Martinez weren’t the only Broncs to receive post-season recognition. The following is a list of the Broncs who were named to the all-region teams:
