The Parker Broncs volleyball team pulled off another sweep Tuesday night, Oct. 6, when they defeated the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles of Phoenix in three sets. The scores were 25-13, 25-17, and 25-19.

“That’s a good win,” Assistant Coach Dan Maya said. “That’s a team who could beat us. They’ve got some good hitters.”

In the second and third sets, the Golden Eagles did surge ahead at one point. However, the Broncs came right back and took things up a notch to get the win.

Maya didn’t have any stats on the game, but he said Demi Durham had “a lot” of kills. He also praised the serving of Casandra Sandoval, Linsee Hall and Talia Robledo.

“That really helped us,” he said. “We served really tough.”

Coach Marie Maya said he was thrilled with how well the players are working together. She said this is a great team, and they all want to work.

“I feel blessed this year,” she said.

The Broncs are now 4-1 overall and 2-1 against their 3A West opponents. They’ll face another region opponent Thursday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Tonopah to take on the Tonopah Valley Phoenix. Going into the game, the Phoenix are 2-1 in the region and 3-2 overall. On Oct. 6, they defeated another 3A West school, the Kingman Bulldogs, 3 sets to 2.
