The Parker Broncs girls’ volleyball team was out in the first round of the state playoffs, but they gave their opponents a run for their money. The Broncs, who were seeded No. 11 coming into the tournament, were swept by the No. 6 see, the Veritas Prep Falcons Nov. 2 at Arcadia High School in Phoenix. The games were all close, however. The scores were 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23.
The Falcons went on to lose to the Glendale Prep Griffins in five games in the second round. The Griffins reached the finals and lost to the Scottsdale Christian Eagles in a three-game sweep the evening of Nov. 3 at Tempe High School. The Eagles, the 2A state champions, were dominant this entire season. Not only did they not lose a match in the regular season, they didn’t lose a single regular season game. They did lose some matches at tournaments that didn’t count towards the standings.
The Broncs qualified for the state tournament with a three-game sweep of the Desert Christian Eagles of Tucson in a tournament play-in match held Oct. 30 at Parker
The scores against Desert Christian were 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14.
