The Parker Broncs girls’ volleyball team has played their final match of the 2020 regular season. They have finished in second place in the 3A West region behind the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks, and have earned a trip to the post-season. The Broncs, who are rated No. 12, will be playing the No. 21 team, the Safford Bulldogs, in a state tournament play-in game Nov. 10 in Parker.

The Broncs are one of four teams in the 3A West to qualify for play-in games. Yuma Catholic is rated No, 10, and they’ll playing another 3A West team, the Tonopah Valley Phoenix, who are rated No. 21. The final team from the 3A West to reach the post-season, No. 18 Bourgade Catholic, will be playing No. 16, Payson.

The following eight schools automatically qualified for the state tournament and will not be required to hold a play-in game. They are listed in alphabetical order:  Arizona College Prep, American Leadership Academy-Gilbert North, Fountain Hills, Gilbert Christian, Northwest Christian, Snowflake, Thatcher and Valley Christian.

The Safford Bulldogs placed third in the 3A South Central region. They were 4-4 in their region, 4-6 against 3A teams, and 4-8 overall. They have not played any 3A West teams this season. They closed out their regular season with a three-match losing streak. They lost to Thatcher on Nov. 2, to Payson on Nov. 3, and to Pima on Nov. 5. In their last three matches, they are 1-9 in sets.

The match against Safford will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Parker High School. The winner will advance to the state tournament, which will be held Nov. 14 and 21 at Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe.

The Broncs has two “Knight” matches in their final week of the regular season. They lost to the Arizona College Prep Knights 3 sets to 0 on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The sets were a lot closer than a sweep might indicate. The Broncs lost by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-23.

The second Knight set was against a Colorado River rival, the Lake Havasu Knights. The Broncs won, 3 sets to 1. The Broncs won the first, third and fourth set by scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-13. The Knights took the second set, 25-22.

Here are the final regular season standings for the 3A West region for girls’ volleyball. Teams are listed by record in the region, record against 2A teams, and overall record. An asterisk (*) indicates that team has clinched a spot in the post-season.

* Yuma Catholic:  10-0, 11-2, 12-3

* PARKER:  8-2, 8-3, 13-3

* Bourgade Catholic:  6-4, 7-6, 9-6

* Tonopah Valley:  4-6, 5-7, 6-9

Wickenburg:  1-9, 1-10, 3-12

Kingman:  1-9, 1-10-1-12
