The coaches and athletic directors of the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s 2A Verde region have met and selected the top players for the 2018 season. The Parker Broncs are well-represented on the first and second teams, as well as honorable mentions.

Parker defensive lineman Matthew Baumann was selected as the 2A Verde Defensive Player of the Year. He was also selected to the 2A Verde First Team. Here are the other Broncs who were selected for the first team:

Emanuel Alaniz, defensive utility

Christian Lopez, kick-off returner

Brannon Miller, linebacker

Mykah Aspa, linebacker

Danny Durham, offensive lineman

Robert Solorio, offensive lineman

Fabyian Gonzalez, receiver

Estii Andrade, receiver

The following Broncs were selected to the second team. Some players made both first and second teams, but in different positions.

Christian Lopez, defensive back

Seth Fisher, offensive lineman

Jake Hill, linebacker

Emanuel Alaniz, offensive utility

Adam Baldenegro, quarterback

Carlos Torres, running back

Honorable Mentions:

Fernando Gonzalez, defensive lineman

Manuel Najera, defensive back

Trivium Prep’s Michael Spencer was named Coach of the Year. One of his players, Mason Moore was named Region Player of the Year. Another Trivium Prep player, David Marquez, was named Offensive Player of the Year.

The 2018 season saw the Broncs go 3-1 against their 2A Verde rivals and 5-1 against other 2A teams. They were 6-3 overall, and placed second in their region behind Trivium Prep. The Broncs qualified for the state playoffs, but lost in the first round to Morenci.
