It’s a scramble for the ball in the Broncs’ soccer home opener against the Odyssey Institute Minotaurs Jan. 19 in Parker. The Broncs would fall to the Minotaurs, 10-0.

The Parker Broncs soccer team got off to a rough start on their 2021 season Jan. 19 when they faced the Odyssey Institute Minotaurs in Parker. The game was barely a minute old when Luca Lavoro scored the first goal for the Minotaurs. By the end of the first 10 minutes of the first half, the Minotaurs were up. 3-0. They were up 7-0 at the end of the first half and would go on to win, 10-0.

By the end of the first half, Lavoro had a hat trick with three goals and Odyssey’s Thaddeus Thurman had two goals.

The Broncs ended the week at 0-1. A road game scheduled for Jan. 21 against the St. John Paul II Lions was cancelled.

The Broncs have two home games scheduled for this week. They played the Tonopah Valley Phoenix Tuesday, Jan. 26 and lost, 5-3. They’ll have a rare Saturday afternoon game on Jan. 30 when they play the Page Sand Devils at 2 p.m.

Please remember coronavirus rules will be in place for all games. Spectators, officials, coaches and athletes must wear face masks at all times. All non-competitors must practice social distancing, as must all athletes when not competing. Attendance is restricted to two parents or guardians per student-athlete on their home field.
