Peaches & Pits

Peaches to our new County Administrator, Megan Spielman. We wish her good luck. We know she’ll need it.

Peaches to the 2021 Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You have my permission to gloat. You earned it.

Peaches to the declining rate of new coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Arizona. This is some really good news for a change. Let’s hope this trend continues.

Peaches to coronavirus mitigation practices. The reason the number of new cases is down because these practices are working. This is no time to let up. Let’s keep this going!

Pits to the baseball owners and players who appear to be ready to fight over money and other matters relating to the 2021 season. Sometimes, I wonder why I still like baseball. Think of the fans, you idiots! Think of the people who work at the ballparks! Keep in mind how many people have their livelihoods affected by what you do.

Peaches to Parker High Athletic Director Dan Maya for his entertaining announcing and commentary during the Broncs’ basketball games. His “Bombs away!” for a three-pointer is as good as Al McCoy’s “Shazam!”

Peaches to the Parker Regional Chamber of Commerce & Tourism for keeping up their services to businesses and visitors to the area even with the coronavirus pandemic. We’re fortunate to have an organization like that around here.

Peaches to all the businesses in Parker and La Paz County that have stayed open and kept their services going during this pandemic. If you live here, you can show your gratitude by shopping locally.

Peaches to the Animal Relief Fund and all they do for the pets in our area. Our pets and their owners are fortunate to have them here.

Who do you think deserves a peach? How about a pit? Send your ideas, in 40 words or less, to the Parker Pioneer at ppioneer@havasunews.com or by mail to P.O. Box 3365, Parker, Ariz. 85344.
