Peaches to all public works employees at all levels of government. Somehow, you keep everything working, including water, the streets and other infrastructure. That isn’t always easy.
Peaches to America’s Olympic athletes. They performed well despite the Tokyo games being about the strangest Olympics in recent years. Aside from our athletes winning so many medals, the best part about the games is they are now over.
Pits to the Japanese government for claiming Tokyo in July would have perfect weather for maximum athletic performance. Uh-huh. People who know Eastern Asia will tell you Tokyo is miserable in July, with high temperatures and high humidity. Some of the outdoor events became endurance contests. The last time the games were held in Tokyo, in 1964, they were held in October because the summer weather there is so miserable.
Peaches to new businesses in Parker. The Pioneer wishes Dee’s Curry and Laura’s Raspados all the luck and success in the world.
Peaches to the cat who ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium during a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Yankees. The cat had the crowd cheering for him. The feline was the most entertaining and memorable part of the entire game.
Peaches to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ players, as well as a chorus of “You Gotta Have Heart” from “Damn Yankees.” Play for pride, if nothing else. You may go down, but make sure your opponents have to work for it. Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.
