Peaches & Pits

Peaches to the baby born in a manger in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. We need Him as much now as we ever did.

Peaches to all front-line health care workers. You’ve been overworked ever since this pandemic began, yet you’ve done your jobs, in spite of the politicians. We owe you a tremendous debt. May you be blessed this season, and may the pandemic die down enough that you can finally get a break.

Peaches to some animated You Tube videos of classic singers and the Christmas songs they sang. I’ve seen animated versions of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and the Beach Boys. There’s a reason their songs have become timeless.

Peaches to all the service organizations who donated presents to needy children in our community. You have shown everyone how much you care. We need plenty of that every day.

Pits to whoever made that bomb threat to the BlueWater Resort & Casino. They have enough to be concerned with regarding the coronavirus pandemic. They don’t need anything like a bomb hoax.

Pits to Congress. They can’t get anything done even in the face of a pandemic and a potential economic collapse. In fact, they use these things as a club to hit the other party over the head with. They need to stop acting like the Three Stooges. Come to think of it, Larry, Curly and Moe could probably do a better job.

Peaches to our pets, who love us warts and all.

Peaches to everyone who is shopping locally this season. You are the reason our local economy will survive and thrive.

Who do you think deserves a peach? How about a pit? Send your ideas, in 40 words or less, to the Parker Pioneer at or by mail to P.O. Box 3365, Parker, Ariz. 85344.
