Peaches to all the students who participated in the district STEM night.
Peaches to the one and only Paul Winer. He was a character for sure. He will be missed.
Peaches to everyone who helped clean up the Parker Cemetery this past Saturday. Your efforts can be seen and will be noticed.
Peaches to the Colorado River Indian Tribes for their new fire station. It was a long time coming, and a lot of people worked on getting the funding for it and getting it built. They now have a first-rate station for their firefighters.
Pits to some Tribal roads. We are specifically referring to Airport Road and Mutuhar Drive by the MVD office. They make the bad sections of Riverside Drive look smooth. I wonder if these roads have been leased to automakers so they can test new shock absorbers. On the Pioneer’s Facebook page, some people suggested that, with the fire station complete, the Tribes should spend some money on these roads.
Pits to price increases for MMA events. When Ringside Promotions had the event in September 2018, general admission was $20. Now, a new outfit has taken over and the general admission price for the May 18 event is $45. Ouch!
Peaches to Skip Becker at the La Paz Economic Development Corporation for his work in bringing new businesses to our community.
Peaches to all the Parker High students who won awards or scholarships at the PHS Awards Picnic held May 9 at County Park.
Peaches to all the students at Arizona Western College who received their degrees or certificates at the ceremony held May 9 at AWC’s Parker Community Center.
Peaches to the Town of Parker’s Parks & Recreation Committee for running the town’s summer youth recreation program through the month of July. Most other youth programs in the area end at the end of June. It’s great to see someone recognize young people will need something to do in July as well.
Why should we have all the fun with this? We want to know: who do you think deserves a peach? How about a pit? Send your ideas to the Parker Pioneer, P.O. Box 3365, Parker, AZ 85344. You can also send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
