Jessica Aaker, Miss La Paz County and Alexes Niekamp, Miss Parker will be competing for Miss Arizona, while Ellie Evans, Miss Parker’s Outstanding Teen will compete for Miss Arizona’s Outstanding Teen. Vying for the titles are 26 miss and 29 teen candidates. The preliminary nights of competition are June 19th and 20th. The ten contestants with the highest scores will compete for the state title on finals night June 22nd. The pageant is held at Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ. There is an 11th spot added to the top ten on finals night for the contestant who wins the People’s Choice vote. The public can help Jessica, Alexes, and Ellie make the top 11 by voting for them at www.missarizona.org/peoples-choice. Each vote costs $1.00 and all proceeds go towards college scholarships.
Aaker, Miss La Paz County, is a 22 year old graduate of Parker High School and is employed at Wal-mart and Southwest Shuttle. Her Social Impact is Don’t Stay Silent: Cognizance of Child Sexual Abuse. She will be singing “I See Fire” for her talent.
Niekamp, Miss Parker, is a 22 year old graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Human Behavior. She is the owner of a Dance Studio: Lessons by Lexe and Quest Character Parties as well as a NAZ Suns Hype Girl. Her Social Impact is A Chance to Dance. She will be tap dancing to “September” for her talent.
Evans, Miss Parker’s Outstanding Teen, is a 15 year old sophomore at Cibola High School. Her Platform is Relay for Life. She will be performing the monologue “Lockdown” for her talent.
The girls have been working hard preparing for the state pageant as they work on their talent, interview skills, and community service. They have also been promoting and raising money for Children’s Miracle Network, which is the national platform of the Miss America Organization.
