The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is trying to locate a Big River resident whose car was found abandoned Saturday, Sept. 14. Joy Morgan’s car was found at the intersection of Rio Mesa Drive and Del Rey Drive in Big River.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Jodi Miller said there was no sign of foul play, and there was no sign that Morgan, 67, went into the Colorado River.
“There’s nothing to indicate she just didn’t walk away from her car,” Miller said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about an abandoned vehicle at 10:21 a.m. Sept. 14. They found the car unsecured and determined it belonged to Morgan. There were keys inside the car, as well as personal items.
Deputies went to her home and found Morgan wasn’t there. They contacted family members, who came by the home and said everything was just the way it should have been.
“They said it was just like how their mom would’ve left it,” Miller said.
Miller said Morgan was not known to have any medical conditions that could cause her to wander away. She is currently listed as a “voluntary missing person.”
Anyone with information about Morgan or her whereabouts is asked to call the Colorado River Station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at 760-326-9200.
