Construction work has begun this week on First Avenue and Airport Road on the Colorado River Indian Reservation. According to a notice from the CRIT Planning Department, the work started Monday, Aug. 5, and is expected to be completed in October.
The contractor for the project, Standard Construction, will begin work at 3 a.m. and will be working until 1 p.m. each day. First Avenue will be closed and only local traffic will be allowed during these hours. After working hours, the road will be open for normal traffic.
Airport Road is the short road that connects State Route 95 (Riverside Drive) with Avi Suquilla Airport. Its route lies between the Moovalya Plaza Shopping Center and Running Man Fuels 2. The poor condition of the road has been the subject of many comments on local social media sites.
Airport Road and access to Moovalya Plaza will be restricted at times during the construction period.
