Memorial Day, May 27, is the day to honor those who lost their lives fighting in our nation’s wars. Two local veterans groups have joined together to host ceremonies recognizing Memorial Day:  Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7061 and the American Legion Freeman H. Sharp Post 70.

Unlike in years past, there will be no ceremony at the Colorado River Indian Tribes’ Cemetery this year. The ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 27 at the Parker Cemetery. The ceremony will feature guest speakers, the raising of the colors, the anthems of each of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and the singing of patriotic songs.

The community is invited to come out and show their gratitude for those who gave their lives fighting for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
