The La Paz County Public Health Education and Prevention Program is thanking everyone in the county who participated in the Community Health Assessment Survey.

Mandy Shanks, Community Health Education Coordinator, said the survey is done every five years, and every county in the state has to do one.

“The questions on each survey differ based on the type of information that is important to your county,” Shanks said. “Healthy La Paz supported this survey and, with the help of multiple community partners, we had over a thousand responses.”

To motivate residents to participate in the survey, they had the option of entering a drawing for an iPad. The drawing was held live on Facebook on Aug. 12 at the Parker Regional Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. The winner was Parker resident Usvaldo Salcedo.

Shanks said they also gave away a Fit Bit to the community partner who referred the most people to take the survey. The Fit Bit was won by Jean Golding of Indian Health Services.

“The information that is obtained from the survey can help our county in more ways than most know,” Shanks said. “On behalf of Healthy La Paz and the La Paz Public Health Education and Prevention Program, we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who took the time out of their day to take the survey and congratulations to Jean and Usvaldo!”
