Trunk or Treat

Changes have been made for the 2020 version of “Trunk or Treat,” the Town of Parker’s alternative to Halloween Trick or Treating. It’s scheduled this year for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Pop Harvey Park. Due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, individuals and groups that decorate their vehicles and bring them to Pop Harvey Park will not be allowed to hand out candy or other treats. These will be handed out by the Parker and CRIT Fire Departments.

However, individuals and groups are still encouraged to decorate vehicles and bring them to Pop Harvey Park for everyone to see. There will be awards for two of these vehicles. Everyone is also invited to come out in costumes for the event.

A walking parade will start on Navajo Avenue with people walking around the park and viewing all the vehicles on display. At the end of the parade route, firefighters will hand out bags of candy to children in the parade.

With the coronavirus still present, everyone should wear a protective face mask. Social distancing practices will be in place.

To participate in displaying your decorated vehicle, call the Town of Parker at 928-669-9265 to reserve your space at Pop Harvey Park. In the late afternoon of Oct. 31, come to Pop Harvey Park, and set up your display. You can then watch the parade and show off your vehicle for everyone to see.

There will be “Golden Pumpkin Awards” for the most Cute & Creative Vehicle and the most Spooky & Scary Vehicle.

There will also be an online costume competition. Photos can be sent to #parkerspooktacular. Photos and the names of winners will be posted on the Parker Regional Chamber of Commerce & Tourism website. A total of 13 prizes will be awarded.

The event is sponsored by the Town of Parker’s Parks & Recreation Committee. They are currently looking for donations of candy to be bagged and handed out by the firefighters. Drop boxes are located at the Chamber office, Parker Town Hall and the offices of David Plunkett Realty.

For more information, or to reserve a space for your vehicle, call Parker Town Hall at 928-669-9265.
