Coalition to end homelessness to meet
The La Paz Coalition to End Homelessness will hold a meeting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at the Regional Center for Border Health, 601 Riverside Drive, Suite 7. The coalition wants anyone who helps, serves or works with homeless people in La Paz County to attend. Lunch will be provided. Vintage speedboat offered in raffle for ARF
The Sundance Saloon has donated a 1974 Byers Wood Deck Flat Bottom speedboat as a raffle item for the Animal Relief Fund. The raffle will benefit ARF’s plans to build a new structure at the La Paz County/Town of Parker Animal Shelter.
Tickets are $20 each, and only 1,500 will be sold. The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. July 7 at the Sundance Saloon, 5920 Riverside Drive in Parker. Tickets can be purchased at Sundance or by calling 928-208-3196.
Take a Kid Fishing set for Feb. 10.
Mark your calendars for Feb. 10, 2018. That’s the date for the 39th Annual Take a Kid Fishing program at the lagoons at La Paz County Park, which is located seven miles north of Parker on Riverside Drive (old Highway 95). Registration starts at 10 a.m. and fishing will start at 11 a.m. Fishing will close at 2:30 p.m., when there will be a drawing for prizes. The fishing program is free, along with hot dogs and drinks for all youth and those who bring them. Bring your own fishing rod if you have one, or use one provided by the Take a Kid Fishing program. Upriver VFW holds dinners
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10726 (the upriver post) will be hosting dinners during the month of December. Every Sunday, they will serve a full breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon. They’ll have Taco Night on Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. They’ll also have different meals on Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. Please come and support our veterans. The post is located at 8889 Riverside Drive, next to Circle K.
