A Christmas season tradition continued in Parker Saturday, Dec. 12 with the annual Parade of Lights. Organized by Soroptimist International of Parker, this marked the 13th year the parade has been held. The event drew many vehicles and floats decorated with lights for the holiday season.

The parade made its way along the Tim Edwards parade route, starting at 16th Street and Joshua Avenue. It made its way along Joshua Avenue and turned left on 12th Street to end at the Parker Community/Senior Center. It drew a large crowd of spectators, many of whom were wearing face masks and practicing social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Soroptimist International of Parker is part of Soroptimist International, a worldwide organization that seeks to promote educational and other opportunities for women and girls. They sponsor many scholarships for area girls, and they sponsor the “S Club” at Parker High School. They are currently raising funds through the sale of See’s Candy.
