Parker girl wins state wrestling title
Kiana Herder, a fourth-grade student from Parker, took home the state title in the 62-pound weight class for elementary school girls at the State Girls Wrestling Championship Tournament held Feb. 27 at Deer Valley Middle School in Phoenix.

Parker High takes home the trophy at the Salome Power Lifting Invitational
The first power lifting meet of the season was held at Salome High School this past Saturday. Teams from Parker, Canyon State, Mayer and Salome competed to see which boys had worked the hardest in the weight room this past year. At the end of the day Parker HS came away with a decisive victory over the second place home team.

Mongo Racing places well despite problems
Parker-based Mongo Racing made a strong showing at the 2010 BlueWater Resort & Casino/Best in the Desert Parker 425, which was held Feb. 6. This was despite a serious injury to driver Randy Merritt and the wet weather playing havoc with the electrical systems on their KC HiLites Ford F-150 truck.

Fundraiser for Student Ambassador
There will be a horseshoe tournament, Saturday, March 6, 11 a.m. in Parker Valley. Roy Andrews, 15, a Parker High School freshman has been chosen to be a Student Ambassador and will be traveling to Europe.

Speed the Light run slated
Speed the Light 5k Run will be Saturday, March 27. The suggested donation is $25 per person. Payment and completed applications due by March 6. Entry fee includes tee-shirt, lunch and bronze medal.

Golf tournament in April
Poston Rotary will be hosting its 20th annual Bill Chrismer Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, April 3, at Emerald Canyon Golf Course. This is a four-person scramble and golfers may enter as a pair or as singles and a team will be put together based on handicaps.
